5 Tools Behind Our 100/100 WordPress Speed (Mobile + Desktop)

Our WordPress site consistently scores 100/100 on Google PageSpeed Insights. Both mobile and desktop hit perfect scores. Most hosting companies can’t say the same about their own sites.

Wp buzz mobile score

While casually scrolling one of our top competitors’ sites, I noticed something ironic.

They offer blazing-fast WordPress hosting. Their site is full of claims like “500% faster than X” and “a thousand times faster than Y.”

Their own site, however, failed Core Web Vitals mobile speed. It scored 53/100 on performance and merely 60/100 on desktop.

Isn’t it ironic? You promise users lightning-fast page speeds while your own site fails Core Web Vitals and loads at a snail’s pace.

Whilst some people do claim that speed tested by tools like Google pagespeed insights don’t matter. But in reality vast amount of devs, designers & clients use these tools to enhance their user experience.

This is why at WP Buzz, we lead by example. We are not like,”Do as I say, not as Ido.”

Our site is a living, breathing site with non intrusive animations and interactivity. It still scores 100/100 for both desktop and mobile. You can verify our desktop score here and mobile score here. Feel free to test our site using any tools of your choosing. Just make sure you test a couple of times for accurate results.

We’re not sharing this to brag about our scores. We are sharing this because of two reasons:

  1. We want to assert the fact that by using the right tools. It is possible to achieve top speeds for your WordPress sites without sacrificing the design aspect.
  2. We want to ensure that our visitors get a fantastic user experience cause we deeply care about it as all brands should.

In this post, I’ll reveal our complete stack. The exact hosting, themes, and plugins we use to achieve this speed.

But first honesty:

Disclaimer: These results are specific to our setup mentioned below. Your results will vary depending on your hosting and configuration.

Why WordPress Speed Matters

Before we reveal our stack, here are three main reasons speed is non-negotiable:

1. Search Rankings From our own data serving millions of pageviews a month, fast sites consistently outperform slow sites in search engines. This applies to generative AI results too.

2. User Experience Let’s be honest. Slow sites suck. You’ve heard this multiple times. First impression is last impression. A faster site means a great first impression and fantastic user experience.

3. Revenue Impact A faster site means higher revenue. This applies whether you run e-commerce, services, lead collection, or general sales.

Now that you understand why speed should be non-negotiable, let me introduce you to our stack.

Your WordPress site speed depends on five things:

  1. Hosting
  2. Theme
  3. Plugins
  4. Caching
  5. CDN

What stack do we use to achieve top speeds?

Let’s start with hosting.

1. Our Hosting: WP Buzz

Name: WP Buzz

Cost: Plans start at $15/mo

Hosting is like the engine of your truck. It doesn’t matter how shiny and lightweight your other parts are. If your engine sucks, you won’t achieve top speeds regardless of your optimizations.

Why trucks instead of cars? Because trucks carry heavy loads. Just like servers carry the weight of your website traffic, databases, and complex WordPress operations.

You’ll be surprised to know our site runs on our own infrastructure (pun intended.) Same servers as our users. We assigned ourselves the Beast Mode plan.

But here’s the honest truth: you can choose any plan. Plans differ by pageviews and features only. You can achieve similar speeds on any plan.

We built what we call the “CyberTrucks of WordPress hosting.” Why CyberTrucks? Traditional trucks work fine for loads, they are slow however. But CyberTrucks are built different – they handle massive weight while still being blistering fast. Now how many trucks out there can do that?

That’s exactly what our Ryzen 9950X processors do. They power LiteSpeed Enterprise servers across our entire cluster. Every component works in perfect harmony.

Hers is a sneak peak of how our WordPress CyberTrucks are built:

You can learn everything about our infrastructure here.

Now let’s move to the second most important thing.

2. Our Theme: Breakdance

Name: Breakdance

Cost: From $99/yr

WP Buzz has gone through three major versions. It started with GeneratePress. Lightning-fast but required massive build time. Then we moved to Kadence. Performance was decent, but it lacked complex dynamic content systems.

Since then, we tested multiple themes. Block-based and page builders. In the end, we settled on Breakdance.

Breakdance is a WordPress page builder. WP Buzz and Breakdance seem like a match made in heaven.

Here are three main reasons we chose Breakdance:

1- Speed Without Sacrifice Breakdance lets us build beautiful sites that stay highly performant. Unlike competitors’ basic brochure sites, our WP Buzz homepage has plenty of animations. We have 20+ above-the-fold images. It still loads lightning fast.

It performs brilliantly with WP Buzz infrastructure. We tested multiple Breakdance templates. They all score 100/100 on Google PageSpeed. I hope someone from Breakdance is reading this.

2- Design Freedom We chose Breakdance for more than speed. It lets us build complex dynamic layouts with ease in WordPress. The learning curve is short. Since we’re not designers, this tool is heaven for no-code creators.

3- Build Once, Use Everywhere We’re into programmatic WordPress design. Build once, sell a hundred times. Breakdance makes this possible with ease. It has advanced features other themes and page builders lack. They’d need multiple third-party plugins to achieve what Breakdance does natively.

As a WordPress speed guru (yours truly, ahem ahem) once said: “the fewer the plugins, the better the performance.””

This approach lets us create hundreds of pages without design fatigue.

3. Our Plugins

We use exactly eight free plugins for our site as of today. Each serves a specific purpose:

i. Antispam Bee

Cost: Free

This plugin stops spam bots from leaving comments on our posts. Cleaning up spam comments takes hours of work. That time is better spent on critical operations.

ii. Slim SEO

Cost: Free

Slim SEO is a lightweight plugin for search engine optimization. It lets us write custom title tags for posts and pages. It sets featured images that show when our site is shared on social media. It generates a sitemap automatically. This plugin works well with our programmatic site structure.

iii. Safe SVG

Cost: Free

WordPress blocks SVG image uploads by default. Security reasons. Safe SVG plugin lets us upload SVG images safely to our media library.

iv. WPS Hide Login

Cost: Free

In WordPress, login pages are prime targets for malicious actors. WP Buzz has multiple security layers already. WAF, DDoS protection, AI-powered anti-malware scanning, and brute force login protection. We still hide our /wp-admin URL using this plugin. Extra security never hurts.

v. Generate Blocks

Cost: Free

Our pages and some posts use Breakdance. We use Gutenberg editor for documentation and blog posts. We use the free version of Generate Blocks to organize our content.

vi. Meta Box Lite + Meta Box

Cost: Free

These two plugins let us build programmatic WordPress sites. This means we can create huge numbers of pages without design fatigue.

These plugins help us create custom post types. Why are custom post types important?

The problem with WordPress sites that have huge numbers of pages is build time. It’s extremely time-consuming to build individual pages. We solved this with a template-based system.

We build the design once. WordPress custom post types handle the content. Breakdance handles the design. Don’t worry if this doesn’t make sense yet.

In short, these plugins let us create custom post types. We publish multiple pieces of content with single design systems.

For example, look at these two competitor pages: “WP Buzz Vs Kinsta” and “WP Buzz Vs Rocket.

Wp buzz vs kinsta
Wp buzz vs rocket

You’ll notice the design is identical for these pages. The content is dynamic and different.

We achieved this using Meta Box Lite + Meta Box to create custom post types. Breakdance’s dynamic content template builder handles the design.

Now we can build unlimited competitor pages without designing each page individually.

We’ll write a full series on building programmatic WordPress sites later. Otherwise, this post will never end.

vii. WP CLI Login Command Server

Cost: Free

This plugin ships with WP Buzz by default. It’s installed on all WordPress sites we host. Have you noticed when you click “Login to Admin” from your control panel? It logs you into your WordPress dashboard without username and password.

This plugin provides that frictionless experience. The functionality is complicated and beyond this post’s scope. We use it ourselves too. Who doesn’t want instant access to their WordPress dashboard?

viii. WP Rollback

Cost: Free

Has this happened to you? You update a plugin and your site breaks. It happens to everyone. Even us.

We use our staging feature to build sites and update plugins. This plugin lets us revert any plugin to its previous version instantly. No waiting for backup restores when things break on staging or live sites. This plugin is a lifesaver.

You might wonder about cache plugins. Of course we use one! This brings us to the most important plugin for speed.

4. Caching: LiteSpeed Cache

Name: LiteSpeed Cache (LS Cache)

Cost: Free

Cache plays a huge role in achieving our desired scores. It’s one of the most important parts of WordPress. Not just for performance, but user experience too.

Here’s the challenge: you want users to get fresh content. This is especially true for high-traffic sites or dynamic WordPress sites. Fresh data gets displayed to users constantly. Dynamic sites like quizzes, data collection, or e-commerce need this. This is where cache plugins become critical.

We use LS Cache. LS Cache ships with WP Buzz by default. LS Cache works brilliantly with our infrastructure. Our entire software setup is built around LiteSpeed. We use LiteSpeed Enterprise servers across our entire Ryzen 9950X clusters. This plugin works flawlessly with origin servers. It purges cache instantly and presents fresh content to users.

With our previous provider, almost half our support tickets were about cache not clearing. Massive pain in the rear. This created bad user experience and huge support burden. This happened because our previous provider used ancient Apache for origin servers and NGINX for their CDN. Huge mismatch. Always resulted in conflicts.

We eliminated this issue with the tightly integrated LiteSpeed ecosystem. LiteSpeed Enterprise web servers work with LS Cache and LiteSpeed CDN (quic.cloud). They deliver instant purge on command.

We reduced our support burden by at least 50% by introducing LS Cache.

You can see our full LiteSpeed Cache settings here.

LS Cache provides a beautiful interface for pros. It has finer detail controls. It offers one-click presets for beginners. This makes it easy for everyone to experience blazing-fast WordPress sites without getting a degree in caching.

It has built-in code and image optimizations. This eliminates the need for multiple cache and image optimization plugins.

It integrates flawlessly with LiteSpeed CDN (quic.cloud).

Speaking of CDN, you might wonder what CDN we use.

5. CDN: Quic.Cloud

The vast majority of our users are US, UK, and Europe-based. We proudly serve users from over 20 countries who trust us with their brands.

It’s important that our site loads lightning-fast worldwide. Not just for our US, UK, and European users, but for users globally.

For this purpose, we use LiteSpeed CDN (quic.cloud) for our sites.

Some of you might wonder: why not Cloudflare?

When we initially built our infrastructure, we used Cloudflare. But after intense testing, we switched to quic.cloud CDN.

The reason? Better speeds plus better Time to First Byte (TTFB). We decreased our TTFB from 160ms to under 45ms by switching to Quic.Cloud. Our page load speeds dramatically reduced from 545ms to under 250ms.

Why does Quic.Cloud perform better than Cloudflare?

Quic.Cloud performs full page edge-caching. Cloudflare’s free version lacks this.

Cloudflare’s free version only caches certain page parts. The HTML almost always comes from the origin server.

Even Cloudflare’s paid version offers edge caching. We noticed it doesn’t work as intended. Frequent cache misses. Sites break styling. This happens due to mismatches between origin webservers (NGINX or Apache) and Cloudflare’s Pingora-based web servers.

Quic.Cloud eliminates this issue. It uses edge cache to deliver full pages from the nearest location to users.

It integrates seamlessly with LiteSpeed Enterprise web servers and LS Cache. Everything works in harmony. This achieves a fantastic, speedy user experience that other hosts cannot replicate.

Let’s Sum It Up

So now that you know our complete 100/100 PageSpeed stack, why not use the above to build blazing-fast sites for your brand?

Our Complete Stack:

  • Hosting: WP Buzz infrastructure with LiteSpeed Enterprise servers
  • Theme: Breakdance page builder for performance and flexibility
  • Plugins: Eight carefully selected tools that enhance rather than hinder performance
  • Caching: LiteSpeed Cache with instant purge capabilities
  • CDN: Quic.Cloud with full page edge-caching

This integrated approach eliminates the conflicts and bottlenecks that plague most WordPress setups. Every component works together seamlessly to deliver consistent 100/100 PageSpeed scores.

The best part? This isn’t theoretical. This exact stack powers our live site with real traffic, real content, and real user interactions. You can verify our scores anytime and see the results for yourself.
