We have important updates to share with you.

So let’s dive right in.

We have promised our users that we will be good, honest, and fast so here is the story.

Our Current Infrastructure Provider Has Started To Fail Us:

And We Have Invested In A New One.

As most of you know WP Buzz is built on top of 20i infrastructure.

Many moons ago, it worked like magic but recently we have noticed a humongous downgrade in quality.

Here are some of the issues we are facing.

i) Speed:

We have noticed a massive speed downgrade with 20i.

Please see the example below of a comparison between our current infrastructure and our new infrastructure, (more on that below.)

The difference as evident is day and night.

Please go ahead and test and compare site speed using any tools necessary.

All sites above are using same builder and template for fairness purposes.

ii) Support:

Look everyone can set up a server nowadays. There are one-click bash scripts that can set up everything for you.

The reason users still pay their hard-earned cash to web hosting companies is because of support.

At WP Buzz we pride ourselves on the support we provide to our users. But sometimes we have to escalate infrastructure level matters to 20i.

Previously they would take ownership of the issue and try to resolve the matter.

But since they have exponentially grown. They seem to have resorted to cookie-cutter copy-and-paste support answers.

That’s a huge downgrade.

iii) StackCache:

After liaising with multiple clients, we have come to the following conclusion.

• Stackcache has an extremely low HIT ratio.
• It doesn’t clear in a timely matter, often taking multiple attempts from within the admin dashboard and control panel for it to clear.
• Even then it doesn’t clear resulting in the user frustration.
• The highest amount of tickets we receive are for this issue. This results in a big support burden.
• It has to be cleared at the origin level by the infrastructure provider.
• We think this is due to 20i using Apache as a web server and NGINX as a CDN cache server resulting in conflict and latency.

iv) Apache Webserver:

20i uses Apache as a web server. Multiple tests by leading experts show that Apache is 1000X times slower than NGINX and Litespeed.

20i uses NGINX as a CDN server. The sites are fast when served from a CDN node but slower at the uncached version.

This is particularly true when our users are logged in to their /wp-admin editing their sites. Our new infrastructure sorts this issue as well.

v) StackCP:

The current control panel we are using is StackCP.

Our users have reported slow loading times. Particularly for WordPress Tools features critical for managing WordPress sites.

vi) Hostshop:

We are currently using Hostshop for billing, plans, and package automation.

Since this is a proprietary product we are unable to integrate a 3rd party affiliate program into it.

This limits our potential and our user’s incentive who promote us without any reward. We would like to reward our buzzers who put in a good word for us.

vii) StackProtect:

The current security layer used is extremely restrictive. Often blocking requests from genuine plugins.

Often we have to completely disable it to allow sites to function properly.

So What Are We Going To Do About This?

For months we have been testing different stacks and we believe we have figured out and built the kind of stack that will deliver optimal performance for our buzzers.

You have already witnessed the speed difference in the video above.

We are confident that our new infrastructure can rival even the most expensive of hosts without breaking the bank.

We are ready to put it up against any other hosting in the world.

So how does our new stack differ from our existing one?

Did you know that your data center hardware plays the most critical role in your site speed?

You see most hosts never speak about their hardware stack. And there is a good reason for that. And that reason is the price of the hardware.

So we will start with our new cutting-edge hardware and slowly move to software.

We will also compare it with our existing stack. So you do have a clear idea of what you are getting for your money.

1 CPU:

Current: Intel Xeon-based CPUs

New Infrastructure: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X CPUs

What’s the difference?

CPUs sit at the heart of your site performance. These are the engines of your vehicles. AMD Ryzen 9 9950X—16 cores, 32 threads, and up to 5.7 GHz are expensive but these beasts are up to 5X faster than old Intel-based CPUs. Heck, they are even faster than older AMD Epyc CPUs.

2- Storage:

Current: SSD Disks

New Infrastructure: NVMe Disks

What’s the difference?

Did you know that storage plays a crucial role in your site speed? Our current infrastructure is using SSD disks.

These are ok, but they are nothing compared to our new VNMe disks. NVMe disks are up to 30X faster than traditional SSDs. This makes an insane difference to your site speed.

There is a catch though. NVMe disks are extremely expensive compared to SSD disks. Although their performance is unmatched. Their prices are not coming down.

3- RAM:

Current: DDR4 RAM

New Infrastructure: DDR5 RAM

What’s the difference?

RAM also plays a crucial role in your site speed. Our upgrade from DDR4 to DDR5 RAM triples the performance resulting in a boost in your site speed.

4- Webserver:

Current: Apache

New Infrastructure: Litespeed Enterprise

What’s the difference?

Webservers are the backbone of your WordPress installations.

When it comes to webservers there are three major players in the enterprise market. Apache, NGINX & Litespeed.

Apache is the slowest. Not just by a few points though.

NGINX & Litespeed are up to 3000 times faster than Apache. Performance wise both NGINX and Litespeed are awesome.

NGINX is a free product whereas Litespeed Enterprise is a paid product.

We chose Litespeed Enterprise. Our tests show that LiteSpeed has a slight advantage over NGINX.

Also, it is a drop in Apache replacement. This means the themes and plugins you are currently using will be 100% compatible with the new infrastructure.

5- Cache:

Current: StackCache

New Infrastructure: Litespeed Cache

What’s the difference?

Caching works wonders for the WordPress speed.

You know our struggles with StackCache. The HIT ratio is low and purge is always a project.

The beauty of the Litespeed webserver is that it ships with its own Litespeed cache. The cache HIT ratio with Litespeed is up to 90% which is brilliant for your user experience.

The amount of one-click presets & minor controls you have over your Litespeed cache is amazing.

It has built-in code and image optimization capabilities.

There is a reason that it has 6Million+ active installs with 2400+ 5-star reviews.

Not only that, it ships with QUIC CDN more on that below.

6-CDN:

Current: StackCDN

New Infrastructure: Cloudflare

What’s the difference?

CDNs are the best thing that has happened to WordPress. These deliver your sites from your user’s nearest location.

Currently, we are using StackCDN, It works but it only has 28 nodes worldwide.

We live in Gen Z times. Everyone is battling it out for their attention. Every second is important.

With our new infrastructure, you will be able to integrate Cloudflare.

Cloudflare is crazy fast and has 330+ nodes around the world.

As the above video shows. It can deliver amazing performance to users everywhere in the world.

Best of all it is free and a doodle to set up.

7- Control Panel:

Current: StackCP

New Infrastructure: Enhance CP

What’s the difference?

Currently, we use StackCP. It ships with 20i infrastructure only. It is user-friendly but it is slow compared to our new control panel.

So which control panel are we using now?

Well, it’s Enhance Control Panel

We went over a dozen control panels and eventually settled for Enhance Control Panel for its speed, scalability, functionality, familiarity, and most of all security.

The best thing about Enhance control panel is that it allows us build infinitely scalable cluster of servers. This means we can scale resources without adding the complexity.

StackCP is free and Enhance Control Panel is quite expensive. But we would rather pay for speed than use a slow CP.

8- Billing:

Current: HostShop

New Infrastructure: Blesta

What’s the difference?

Billing and hosting automation is a tough task in the hosting industry.

Currently, we are using Hostshop which is a free product by 20i.

In the future, we will be using Blesta.

Here are some of the advantages of Blesta.

• Most important it has a reliable built-in affiliate program. We cannot wait to share rewards with you.
• This would allow us to bring down the price of domains.
• It’s been there for ages so it is reliable.
• It will allow us to launch promotions and deals.

9- Social Media:

Current: No Presence

New Infrastructure: A continuous presence.

What’s the difference?

We were behind on social media. We are developing a comprehensive Social Media strategy and you will see us around more often.

10- Pricing:

We have invested heavily in our new infrastructure. It costs us 10X more than our current one.

The speed comes at a cost.

But here is a good news. We will not be increasing our prices. But there will be changes to limits.

These limits are set in place because NVMe disks are insanely expensive. The limits however are generous and most of our users will not see any increase to their pricing.

Only 1-2% of the users may have to sign up for higher plans. Please see our new preliminary pricing here

So What’s Next?

• We have set everything in place. We will now start working on white labeling our current URLs so your Login URLs and other URLs will change.
• This will not affect your site functionality at all.
• First, we will white-label our nameservers. We request that you start updating your current nameservers to ns1.stackdns.com; ns2.stackdns.com; ns3.stackdns.com; ns4.stackdns.com.
• When you will update nameservers, you will see a nameserver warning in your control panel. But your sites will function as normal.
• We will now start contacting our users one by one by raising support tickets from within the control panel to request to see if they would like to hop on to our new infrastructure or stay with the current one. If you decide to stay at it is. You would have to sign up with 20i themselves as we will be completely moving away from 20i
• We will migrate everything for you. But if you wish to do it yourself we will make videos on how to do it.
• If you have already paid yearly for your plans. All your remaining billing period will be transferred to the new infrastructure. We will ensure you don’t lose a single penny, the same goes for the pay monthly users.

At the end, we would like to thank you for your support throughout all those years. And we hope that you will keep on supporting us.

But it is time that we work to make WP Buzz the fastest WordPress hosting in the entire planet.
